Firefighters prevail in appeal of discrimination award

This week the Sixth Circuit upheld a Judge's decision granting an injunction to a group of firefighters who won a civil rights verdict against the City of Akron, Ohio.  The candidates for LIeutenant and for Captain successfully demonstrated that the City's promotion procedures discriminated on the basis of race and age.  The judge who heard the case concluded that the jury's verdict should be enforced with an injunction ordering appropriate hiring of the discrimination victims.  The City appealed.  And lost.
