Michigan doesn't adequately police day care candidates

Yesterday, the Grand Rapids Press pointed out that Michigan's auditor general recently reported a significant risk associated with Michigan's licensing of day care providers.  According to the report, between 2003 and 2006, 1000 convicts passed background checks, including 400 people with histories of child abuse or neglect and 31 persons who were registered sex offenders.
