Court rules on the issue of tolling in a class action

Several individuals who claimed false arrest by Motor City Casino employees sued the Casino after they were excluded from a class action brought ten years earlier.  The Casino sought to dismiss their susequent individual claims as "stale." The plaintiffs argued that their potential actions were "tolled," meaning that the statutory limitation period stopped running, during the period that a class action was pending.  The Court of Appeals agreed, but held that tolling ended when the class was decertified, excluding the plaintiffs, rather than when the potential class action was finally disposed of.
