Defamation suit dismissed based on immunity applicable to judicial proceedings

Parviz Daneshgari sued Jerome Greenbaum and others for defamation.  He argued that statements contained in a 2007 lawsuit against him created "the obvious implication that Daneshgari is a terrorist, or someone who supports terrorism."  The Court noted that unless statements contained in judicial proceedings are actually irrelevant and immaterial to the pending lawsuit, they are absolutely privileged.  Since the statements to which Daneshgari objected were germane to the plaintiff's underlying request for a Temporary Restraining Order, the makers were immune from any claim of defamation.
