One million strollers recalled
On November 9, 2009, about a million Maclaren strollers sold by Babies 'R' Us and Target were recalled after 12 reports of fingertip amputations suffered by children. According to the Chicago Tribune, the recall includes all nine models of strollers sold by the company. They have been on the market since 1999. As a remedial measure, the company is offering free hinge covers to owners. The strollers were manufactured in China and distributed by Maclaren USA, Inc. of Norwalk Connecticut. The Company's website has been taken off line.
