State Farm loses PIP priority dispute

State Farm insured a motorcycle that was registered to Edward Shreve.  It was operated by Kenneth Curler who had allegedly purchased the bike, although Shreve remained the registered owner.  When Curler was hurt in a collision with an uninsured motor vehicle, Titan Insurance Company paid Curler's PIP benefits through the Assigned Claims Plan.   Titan then sought reimbursement from State Farm, arguing that as the insurer of the registrant of the bike, State Farm was obligated to pay PIP bnenefits.  The Court of Appeals agreed, concluding that despite the attempted sale, State Farm's insured remained the registered owner of the bike.
