Supreme Court holds winery can sue warehouse-distibutor for conversion
The Supreme Court decided last month that Aroma Wines should survive summary disposition on its claim that Columbian Distributing Services committed statutory conversion when it removed the plaintiff's wine from a temperature-controlled warehouse in order to complete a warehouse renovation. The Court held that this was, indeed, "converting the wine to its [the warehouseman's] own use" under the statutory definition of conversion--"a purpose personal to the [Distributor]."
