Garrisi v. Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department
We achieved a multi-million dollar recovery on behalf of the family whose mother and daughter were killed in a collision involving a volunteer-operated fire truck. The truck entered a Grand Traverse County intersection against a red light, relying on its lights and siren to demand the right-of-way. We were able to prove that under the existing circumstances of speed and sight distance, the fire engine was not entitled to the immunity allowed to emergency vehicles and that the Defendant was responsible for the family's loss.
